Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis lost the opportunity to win their 14th title together after losing the Stuttgart Open doubles final on Sunday.

The Indo-Swiss pair failed to capitalise on their first set advantage and were beaten 6-2, 1-6, 6-10 by the French combine of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

Mirza and Hingis were looking to clinch their first title since February, but the second-seeded French Pair pulled off a stunning rally to upset the Australian Open champions.

The top-ranked pair didn’t have the best outing in the last tournament – they made a second-round exit at the Miami Masters following their first straight-set loss at the Indian Wells since the summer of 2015.
