Sindhu Leads India To Easy 3-0 Win Over Kazakhstan

PV Sindhu got India off to a winning start, beating her opponent 21-7, 21-9 in straight games.

Unnati Kashyap then extended India's lead with a 21-7, 21-10 win, leaving the tie one victory away.

Tanvi Sharma duly sealed it, beating Diana Namenova 21-5, 21-10 as India completed a 3-0 win over Kazakhstan without dropping a game.

Indonesia pull one back early in the second half, but India hit straight back. Shilanand Lakra gets his second, sweeping home from close range after good work from Abhishek.

Harmanpreet Singh finally gets on the scoresheet. The skipper fires a penalty corner into the bottom corner to open his Asian Games account.

India are slicing Indonesia open at will. Hardik finds Sukhjeet on the left, who squares for Mandeep to deflect home from close range.

Rajinder follows up his assist for Dilpreet with a goal of his own. He races into the circle, sets up Dilpreet, and taps in after the goalkeeper saves the first effort.

Dilpreet gets another easy finish. Rajinder drills the ball across from the left and Dilpreet is in the right place at the far post to tap home.

Dilpreet completes his hat-trick with another simple finish. Sumit finds Abhishek, who squares for Dilpreet to slot into an empty net.

2-0! Dilpreet cuts the ball back from the right and Abhishek smashes it into an empty net.

India lead after the first quarter, with Shilanand Lakra opening the scoring in the fifth minute.

Elavenil falls short of gold, wins 2nd silver

Elavenil Valarivan was in the gold medal fight right until the end but had to settle for silver after a tense finish.

She shot a 10.5 in her 21st shot, but Japan's Hinata Taichi kept the pressure on with a 10.6. Elavenil's 10.3 in the next round saw her slip to second as Hinata produced a crucial 10.8.

Elavenil responded with a 10.4, but Hinata again edged ahead with a 10.6. With just one shot remaining, the gap was 0.5.

Elavenil managed 10.1, but Hinata held her nerve with a 10.2 to clinch gold for the hosts. 

Elavenil takes silver -- her second medal of the Games.

Elavenil Valarivan continues to lead the final with 211.1, just ahead of Hinata Taichi on 210.8.

The Indian shooter is now assured of another medal. She had earlier won silver in the team event.

Elavenil Leads, Sonam Fourth After 14 Shots


The elimination round is underway, and both Elavenil Valarivan and Sonam Maskar have made a strong start.

Elavenil opened with a 10.6 before following it up with a 10.3, while Sonam also shot a 10.6 and then produced an excellent 10.7.

After 12 shots, Elavenil leads with 126.9, while Sonam is fourth on 125.4. South Korea's Yuna Kwan was the first shooter to be eliminated, followed by China's Jiayu Han, who exits in seventh place.

Elavenil Valarivan has made a strong start in the women's 10m air rifle final, leading the field after the opening series with a score of 53.1.

Sonam Maskar is seventh after shooting 52.1 in the first series. 

After 10 shots, Elavenil has 106.0 points, while Sonam has 104.2 and sits joint fifth.

India have opened their men's team table tennis campaign with a 3-0 win over Indonesia.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manav Thakkar put India 2-0 ahead before Manush Shah sealed the tie with an 11-9, 11-9, 12-10 win over Affan Pratama.

Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod combined to finish second behind China and put India on the medal table.

Suchika assures India first medal

Welcome to the coverage of Asian Games 2026!

Suchika Tariyal held her nerve to beat Mongolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa and book her place in the women's traditional 60kg MMA semifinal.

Baigalmaa came out attacking in the second round, but Suchika's defence stood firm. She then produced a timely reversal and kept her opponent grounded as the final round wound down.

Suchika had done enough to seal the bout and, with the win, confirmed India's first medal at the Games.
