Real Madrid [Images] defender Jonathan Woodgate will be out for up to four weeks after sustaining a fresh injury in Sunday's Primera Liga match against Real Zaragoza.

The 25-year-old England [Images] international tore the hamstring in his left leg and went off after 23 minutes against Zaragoza. Real won the match 1-0.

Woodgate recently returned to action after 18 months out with a left thigh injury.

"This injury has nothing to do with last season's problem. That has healed completely," Real doctor Alfonso del Corral told the club's website on Monday.

"The new injury came about because of the number of games the team have had to play recently."

The former Leeds United and Newcastle United defender, who had been poised for a return to the England squad for this week's friendly against Argentina, will miss Real's clash with Barcelona in the Bernabeu in two weeks' time and up to two more league games.

Woodgate also misses Real's Champions League match against Olympique Lyon on Nov. 23.

He joins a long list of Real players out with injury.

Brazilian forwards Ronaldo [Images] and Julio Baptista, France [Images] midfielder Zinedine Zidane [Images], Denmark's Thomas Gravesen and Spain's Ivan Helguera are all struggling to be fit for the Barcelona match, the first game after the international break.
