Rastogi in semi-finals

October 10, 2003 18:34 IST

India's Karan Rastogi staged a superb rally to book a place in the semi-finals of the Osaka Mayor's Cup tennis tournament in Japan on Friday.

The 17-year-old beat Woong Sun Jun of South Korea 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the quarter-fnals.

The fourth seed Indian, who thus becomes the only player after Leander Paes to make it to the last four in a Grade 'A' event, will now face Australian Open junior champion Marcos Bhagdatis of Cyprus.

Bhagdadtis participated in the ATP Indian Challenger in Tumkur last week and lost in the semi-finals.

In the doubles event, the second seeded Indian pair of Divij Sharan and Arun Prakash defeated Weerapat Doakmaiklee and Kirati Siributwong of Thailand 6-4, 6-3 to reach the final.
