Two Turks, who hijacked a Turkish airliner to protest against the pope's visit to the Muslim nation, have surrendered, Italian news agencies said.
There were 113 passengers on board.
The two hijackers had a message for the pope, who is due to visit the Muslim nation in November, reports said.
Reports quoted officials saying that the plane was intercepted by two Italian military F-16s and forced to land in the southeastern city of Brindisi.
The hijackers were unarmed and were willing to release the passengers, the reports said.
