In an apparent dig at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's "thulla" remark, a senior Delhi Police official on Monday took to social media to drive home his point about the role of the department for the welfare of the people.

"One of our so called 'Thu**a' who rescued 4-yr-old Khushbu from Kamla Nagar & reunited with her mother!!(sic)," DCP (North Delhi) Madhur Verma tweeted.

In his recent interview, Kejriwal during an interview given to private TV channel had allegedly used the derogatory term, 'thulla', slang for a cop.

Kejriwal had said, "If a Delhi police 'thulla' seeks money from a street vendor, that is not acceptable. We will surely file a case against that."

Police Commissioner Bassi had also hinted his displeasure over the use of word 'thulla', by Kejriwal saying, "I refuse to believe that the honourable chief minister would have used any word of this sort."

The chief minister's comment had triggered a controversy following which two Delhi Police constables had lodged their complaints at Govindpuri and Lajpat Nagar police stations.

Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi on Monday said that he would suggest cops not to get "disturbed" by such criticism, adding, there was no need to fuel the controversy.
