A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in a park situated right in front of a police station in Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad.
25-year-old Amit was arrested after locals nabbed him on hearing the girl's cry for help on Monday night, police said.
"The girl and accused's families lived together in rented accommodation few years ago. Last night, when the girl was standing outside her house, Amit took her to Bhimabai park and raped her," a police officer said.
On hearing the girl's cries for help, locals rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused who was trying to flee, he said.
The locals handed him over to police, who then arrested him, he said, adding that the case is being probed.
