15 lakh pilgrims take holy dip on solar eclipse

Nearly 15 lakh pilgrims from various parts of the country took a dip in the sacred pond in Kurukshetra early Wednesday morning during the solar eclipse.

The pilgrims made a beeline for the holy sarovars in Kurukshetra since Tuesday night amid tight security arrangements.

The Light and Sound show at Jyotisar, Sri Krishna Museum and Panorama Science Centres in Kurukshetra also remained open throughout the night for the convenience of the tourists.

In view of the pilgrim rush, the Haryana transport department had set up four temporary bus stands for the convenience of pilgrims.

Haryana roadways, Kurukshetra was plying special local buses between Pipli-Kurukshetra and Kurukshetra-Jyotisar. Tourist information centres had been been set-up at Parakeet-Pipli, railway station and at Brahmasarovar to facilitate the pilgrims.
