A lawyer filed a complaint against Lord Rama in a Bihar court.
M I Khan reports from Patna on what happened next.

Thakur Chandan Kumar Singh, a lawyer in Sitamarhi, Bihar, filed a complaint in court on Saturday, January 30, against Lord Rama for renouncing his wife Sita. The lawyer also charged Lord Rama's brother Lakshman with the same offence.

The chief judicial magistrate's court in Sitamarhi quashed the case on Monday, February 1, saying it was not maintainable. The case was beyond logic and facts, the court added.

Three individuals -- Ranjan Kumar Singh, Rakesh Kumar and R K Karn -- all residents of Sitamarhi, have now filed separate cases against Thakur Chandan Kumar Singh for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.

The court will hear the cases against Thakur Singh on Wednesday, February 3.

In their complaints, they said Thakur Singh had not only hurt Hindu sentiments, he had also tried to tarnish the image of Lord Rama, revered as a deity by millions of devout Hindus.

The Sitamarhi Lawyers' Association has demanded that the Bar Council of Bihar cancel Thakur Singh's license to practice law and terminate his membership.
