The suicide spree by students continued in Mumbai with one more boy allegedly killing himself at his residence in suburban Juhu on Monday, police said.
Over 15 students have committed suicide in the past three weeks in the city.
According to police, the deceased Rakesh Yadav -- ninth class student from St Joseph High School -- was found hanging in the upper floor of his residence in Moregaon village, police said.
Rakesh went to the school in the morning, but he bunked the class, police said, adding that the class teacher called his father and complained about him.
"The teacher told his father that Rakesh did not attend several classes earlier too. His father took him home even before the school got over. He scolded Rakesh for his behaviour," said Chandrashekar Kadam, Inspector of Juhu Police Station.
"As his father left home for work, the boy went to upper floor of his house and hanged self to a ceiling rod with the help of dupatta. His younger brother saw him hanging. Rakesh was rushed to nearby hospital where he was declared dead," he said.
Although the exact reason for the suicide was not yet known, the boy might have ended his life after his father scolded him, Kadam said adding that no suicide note was found. Further probe was on.
