Security has been beefed up in and around Mumbai airport after a scribble threatening a terror strike on Republic Day was found in the washroom of the domestic terminus, in second such warning this month.

The ground handling staff saw the message in the men's washroom of the domestic airport on Thursday that warned of an attack by terror outfit Islamic State, the police said. "ISIS 26/01/2015 is BOM OK," read the scribble which had the image of an airplane drawn alongside, they said.

Security at the domestic and international airport terminals has been tightened by the Central Industrial Security Force and elaborate security checks are being conducted outside the premises by the Mumbai Police.

The CISF, which is responsible for the security of the airports, is going through the CCTV footage to identify the culprit.

On January 6, a similar warning of an attack on January 10 was found scribbled on the wall of a washroom at Terminal 2 of the Mumbai International Airport.

Areeb Majeed, a young man from Kalyan in neighbouring Thane, has been in the news in recent months for allegedly fighting alongside IS militants in Iraq and Syria.

Majeed was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in November last year upon his return from Iraq and booked under sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Indian Penal Code.

Three other Kalyan youths, who had gone with him to Iraq, have still not returned and are believed to have joined the dreaded jihadist militia.
