Chiru woos voters, son plugs cola
March 19, 2009

Even as mega star Chiranjeevi [Images] is busy wooing voters under the scorching summer heat, his son Ramcharan Teja will be selling a fizzy cool drink to youngsters.

Pepsi Co India has appointed young Telugu film star Ramcharan Teja as brand ambassador for a new campaign to be launched in Andhra Pradesh.

Teja has succeeded his father and uncle Pavan Kalyan as the cola giant's brand ambassador, as the company is repositioning itself and going all out to woo young consumers with the mantra 'Powerful Pepsi, Powerful Youngistan'.

The new television commercial with Ramcharan and Deepika Padukone [Images] will be launched on March 23, the day his father will kick-start his election campaign with a massive rally in Hyderabad.

"I am excited to be associated with such an iconic brand like Pepsi, which has always been the youth's soulmate," said Teja, who was presented before the media by Punita Lal, Executive Marketing-Pepsi Co India.

What is more interesting about the deal between Pepsi and Teja is that the star will be conducting road shows over the next two months, almost parallel to the election campaign of his more famous and popular father.
