Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur on Tuesday met Congress president Sonia Gandhi [Images], seeking her intervention in getting a reprieve for her brother who has been served a death warrant in Pakistan.

Kaur, who is meeting political leaders in Delhi in an effort to drum up support for her brother, said Sonia told her that she has spoken to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on the issue.

"Sonia assured me of her maximum support on the issue," she said after the meeting.

"She (Sonia) assured me that the Indian government will approach thePakistan government at the highest levels in the matter," Kaur said.

Kaur also met Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

She has sought an appointment with the prime minister.

Kaur had met All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi [Images] on Monday, appealing to him to take up her brother's cause with the government.
