A Bihar court on Tuesday convicted Lok Janshakti Party Member of Parliament Surajbhan Singh for the murder of Rami Singh in 1992.

The Begusarai fast track court held three persons, including LJP MP Surajbhan Singh,  guilty of Rami Singh's murder.

Surajbhan Singh was the prime accused in the murder of Rami Singh, who was killed on January 16, 1992, in a village in Begusarai district.

Police have taken Surajbhan Singh into custody and he will be sent to the divisional jail in Begusarai.

The court will announce the quantum of punishment on Thursday.

Surajbhan Singh, a known political strongman, is the LJP MP from Ballia parliamentary constituency in Bihar. Several criminal charges are registered against him including murder, extortion, kidnapping and looting. Singh is considered to be close to Union Minister of Steel and LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan.
