One person was arrested for allegedly keeping a box containing some explosive substance at a shopping complex, which triggered panic in the textile town, hit by bomb blasts on September 8 that claimed 31 lives.
Thirtytwo-year old Rayees Ahmed Rajjak Ali, resident of Naya Islampura locality, was arrested on Monday for placing the box containing explosive substance used in firecrackers mixed with soil and stones at Mohmedia complex, police said.
Rayees has been remanded to police custody till October 30, police said, adding he was the brother-in-law of Shabbir, who had been arrested in connection with the July 11 train blasts.
Meanwhile, Noorulhodha Samsudoha, another suspect arrested in connection with blasts in Malegaon, has approached the Bombay High Court, demanding that police be restrained from conducting narco-analysis, brain mapping and lie-detector tests on him.
Vacation judge Justice Anup Mohta, while adjourning the hearing till Wednesday, refused to grant stay to the tests.
According to Samsudoha's lawyer Amin Solkar, his client has already undergone brain mapping and lie detector test at Bangalore.
Samsudoha was arrested on October 8 under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Police suspect him to be involved in Malegaon blasts.
