The Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus, on a trial run from the Indian side, crossed over to Pakistan on Friday through the joint check post at the Indo-Pak border at Wagah.

The bus, carrying 12 Punjab and central government officials, left the Amritsar International Bus Terminal at 9:20 am for Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, the birthplace of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion.

The Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service, the second after the commencement of the Amritsar-Lahore bus service last week, is scheduled to begin next month.

The bus service to Nankana Sahib will fulfill the long-standing demands of the Sikhs from Amritsar - the city of Harmandar Sahib (the Golden Temple) - who wish to visit the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev in Pakistan.
