The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Patna High Court administration to furnish details of the appointment of special CBI judge Munnilal Paswan to hold trial in the fodder scam cases, involving Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and others in Patna.

A bench headed by Justice S N Variava sought reasons as to how Judge Paswan was appointed when his name had not figured in the list of 14 additional sessions judges, who were promoted.

In other directions to the high court administration, the apex bench sought the Annual Confidential Report of the special judge since February seven, 2002 onwards when he was promoted as ASJ to ascertain whether he was ever considered for promotion.

The court also sought ACR of 14 other ASJs.

Besides, the high court has been asked to furnish the remarks of concerned district judges from where they were promoted. The court has also been directed to clarify how the promotions process was conducted by the committee of registrar and also sought the minutes of the meetings.
