ASI report on excavation in Ayodhya opened

August 25, 2003 11:38 IST

The Archaeological Survey of India's much-awaited report on excavation at the disputed site in Ayodhya was opened on Monday before the special/full Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court hearing the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits.

The report, submitted in the court on Friday last, was opened at 1030 IST soon after the bench comprising Justice S R Alam, Justice Bhanwar Singh and Justice Khemkaran met.

Three sets of the report were opened before the bench, which also spoke to the ASI team leader Hari Majhi, who informed the court that the first part contained the ASI's opinion while the second had maps and drawings.

The court granted six weeks to the contesting parties for filing objections, if any.
