Get your low down on what's happening in the world of Malayalam cinema, right here.

After their highly successful Thanmatra and Bhramaram, filmmaker Blessy has teamed up with Mohanlal once again. The new film is titled Pranayam (love).

The cast of the film also includes Anupam Kher and Jayaprada.

The current schedule is expected to get over in a couple of days and the next one will start in May.

"We have heard lots of stories based on Pranayam but this one is going to be something different," promises Blessy.

Director TV Chandran, known for films like Aliceinte Anweshanam, Danny, Ponthanmada, Mankamma, Susanna and Vilapangalkkappuram among others, is making a comedy for his next project. Titled Sankaranum Mohananum, the film has Jayasurya playing the lead with Meera Nandan and Rima Kallingal. The film will be jointly produced by Prem Prakash and Raju Malliath.

"I had great expectations from my film Bhoomi Malayalam but when it didn't run, I decided to change tracks and do a commercial film. This story is about two brothers, one of whom is dead. Both the roles are played by Jayasurya," says Chandran.

The shooting of the film has started in Kochi. Jayasurya has meanwhile wrapped up two films, V K Prakash' Three Kings and Boban Samuel's Janapriyan.

Prithviraj's next project

Director Deepu Karunakaran will direct Prithviraj's next film, in which the actor plays a don who rules Kuala Lumpur. The comedy caper will be shot in Thiruvananthapuram and Malaysia.

Akhila Sasidharan, the TV anchor-turned film actress of Karyasthan, plays a social activist with whom the don falls in love. To impress her, he dons a entirely different avatar.

Now the question is does the storyline ring a bell? The film stars Suraj Venjarammoodu, Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu and Jagadeesh. Deepu has directed Crazy Gopalan and Winter earlier.
