PIX: Bachchans get together with Amjad Ali Khan

Amitabh Bachchan released a book that sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan had penned on his late father Hafiz Ali Khan, on December 13 at a suburban hotel in Mumbai.

Titled My Father, Our Fraternity: The Story of Hafiz Ali Khan And My World, the book has been published by Roli Books.

Amitabh -- accompanied by son Abhishek and his wife Aishwarya Rai -- joined Amjad Ali Khan's family on stage -- wife Subhalakshmi, sons Ayaan and Amaan and Ayaan's wife Neema.

The event started after a minute's silence to mourn the death of Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Abhishek and Aishwarya, seated right up front, chose to wear black on the occasion.

The Bachchans and the Khans mingled freely at the event, as the families share deep ties, and the younger generation are friends.

"Many a time, I thought if learning the sarod. I have purchased the instrument," Amitabh said, at the event, and requested Amjad Ali Khan to teach him a tune or two.
