'Who wouldn't be pleased to work with AB?'

Last updated on: July 11, 2003 19:40 IST

Rishi KapoorRishi Kapoor's last films as actor, Raju Chacha, Yeh Hai Jalwa and Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, fared badly at the box office.

The talented actor now teams up with Amitabh Bachchan in Dogs, to be directed by debutant Mukul Abhyankar.

The two actors had earlier starred in films like Ajooba, Coolie, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kabhi Kabhie and, except for Ajooba, the rest were big hits.

Rishi, whose character in Dogs has grey shades, talks to Lata Khubchandani about the film.

You reunite with Amitabh Bachchan.

Yes. I am very happy to be associated with Mr Bachchan. Who wouldn't be? I will be working with him after a long time. And it gives me immense pleasure.

What is special about this script?

I feel it is a crossover film. It is very different, in the true sense of the term and not the kind of 'different' film every hero/heroine talks about.

The film is a 'middle-aged' thriller. We have these four killer dogs. They are not violent but are part of the film.

Are you directing any film now?

No, not yet. I will direct a film when I find a worthwhile subject. Right now, nothing excites me.

So what are you doing these days?

Working in films! Seriously, I am looking at scripts right now.

Rishi Kapoor

When does Dogs start?

Sometime in October, I believe.

Have you lost weight for the film?

Yes, I have lost 11 kilos. I needed to lose weight for this film.

Why aren't we seeing more of you?

Nobody is making films for people my age. This gentleman is making one and I am happy to be part of it.

Is it true that the famed RK bungalow in Chembur [in Mumbai] will be sold?

My mother [Krishna Raj Kapoor] wants to live closer to us. So she is looking at selling it, yes.

It would be the sad end of an era, a house which has been in the RK family for so long...

Not really. RK Studios has been around longer.
