World's amazing monorail systems

Monorail is an advanced transportation system based on a single rail, which acts as its support and guide way.

Monorail systems have been built in many countries around the world, many of them on elevated tracks through crowded areas, easing traffic woes.

Here's a list of some of the impressive monorail systems across the globe....

Chongqing Rail Transit system

The Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) also known as Chongqing Metro is one of only three urban-rail metro systems in west China, the others being Chengdu Metro, and Xi'an Metro which opened in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

As of January 2013, CRT consists of four operating lines, with a total track length of 130.2 km in operation.

Osaka Monorail (Japan)

The Osaka Monorail in northern Osaka Prefecture, Japan, operated by Osaka Monorail Co had a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as longest monorail (28 km) in the world.
