The Tata group is set to launch its e-commerce venture on May 27 under the brand name, Tata CLiQ.
Initially, the e-tail venture would offer apparel, electronics and footwear products. Gradually, new categories will be added.
“Clique and Click came together to form the perfect name for our platform, which curates authentic and exclusive products for customers with impeccable taste,” said Ashutosh Pandey, chief executive officer, Tata CLiQ.
Indian business houses have been taking discount e-tailers head-on by launching their online ventures that offer curated products without any deep discount.
For instance, Aditya Birla Group launched fashion e-tail venture abof.com a few months ago.
Similarly, Reliance Industries launched its online fashion portal Ajio.com last month.
These conglomerates have launched their ventures at a time when consumers are hooked on to online shopping and do not need to be lured through deep discount.
