In an attempt to provide cheaper computing solutions, Intel and Microsoft on Tuesday announced 'affordability alliance' to offer innovative financing schemes and increase market access.
The joint initiative will ensure wider availability of affordable computers throughout the country by driving synergies in sales and marketing across diverse customer segments.
Under the alliance, the two companies will work with banking institutions to create innovative financing options with the intent to simplify the entire financing process.
Intel and Microsoft are also in discussions with telecom service providers to integrate telecom services and broadband access into these solutions to maximise impact.
"Enabling India to bridge the digital divide is a Microsoft imperative and strategic to our mission in the country. This alliance with Intel is an important milestone in our efforts towards fostering a digitally inclusive society in India, and we are confident that initiatives rolled out under this alliance will spur consumer interest in and adoption of affordable computing solutions," said Neelam Dhawan, managing director, Microsoft (India).
In the first phase of the alliance, employees of large corporations, government employees, student and teacher communities and cyber cafés have been identified for providing solutions.
