The Noah Group of companies, makers of the premium range John Louis and super luxury Noah shirts, are refocussing on the domestic market by expanding their retail network.

"We plan to expand our retail presence to almost 200 multi-brand outlets within a year. This would include three exclusive boutiques," said John Jacob, CEO. The boutiques will come up in Mumbai, Delhi and in a yet-to-be decided metro in the south.

The two brands have a considerable European presence and are marketed through high-end boutiquies in Germany, United Kingdom and the West Asia. Almost 95 per cent of the group revenues come from exports.

The Noah brand is popular for its special custom-made shirts. "These are high-end shirts, with the fabric coming from Italian and Belgian mills and collar lining from Switzerland. The buttons are made out from oyster shells," said Jacob.

The brand is claimed to be used by Bollywood stars and politicians and come with a heavy price tag. While in the domestic market, the shirts are priced in the range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000, in the European boutiqiues the shirts come for £400 pounds (about Rs 35,000).

Apart from the retail expansion, the group is also expanding its production capacities. "We are adding four more units and this should increase our capacity to 40,000 pieces per month," said Jacob.

Though he was tight-lipped on the investment, Jacob didn't rule out the possibility of going for an initial public offer.

The new capacities will increase the group's product portfolio. Apart from the shirts, the portfolio will include casuals, trousers, blazers and jackets.
