Exports of computer software and services is likely to post a 29 per cent growth and reach close to Rs 100,000 crore (Rs 1 trillion) in the current fiscal, owing to inroads that Indian companies have made in financial services outsourcing.

The estimate of Rs 1,00,000 crore ($22.27 billion) is in line with projections, according to the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council.

The computer software and services exports recorded a growth of around 27.29 per cent during April-December 2005, to touch Rs 70,900 crore ($15.79 billion) against Rs 77,300 crore (Rs 773 billion) in 2004-05.

"One can forecast that the software and services growth is quite likely to surpass 30 per cent," ESC executive director D K Sareen said.

Inroads made by Indian companies in financial services outsourcing, after amicably resolving issues like data protection have contributed to the current year's growth, it added.
