Petro prices cut by up to 76 paise

State run oil companies on Wednesday reduced petrol and diesel prices by upto 76 paise in the four metros.

Petrol would now cost Rs 31.70 a litre, down from Rs 32.40 in Delhi and diesel would cost Rs 19.73 per litre, down from Rs 20.33 in Delhi, official sources said.

According to officials, petrol prices have come down to Rs 34.53 per litre as against current prices of Rs 35.26 in Kolkata, down by 73 paise and diesel prices have been reduced by 63 paise to Rs 21.90 a litre from the current prices of Rs 22.53.

In Mumbai petrol prices have been revised downward to Rs 36.66 from Rs 37.42, a decline of 76 paise while diesel prices have been slashed by 72 paise to Rs 25.03 a litre from Rs 25.75.

Similarly in Chennai, petrol prices have been reduced to Rs 34.63 a litre from Rs 35.39 and diesel prices have been revised to Rs 22 a litre from Rs 22.67, the officials added.

The revised prices would come into effect from mid-night tonight.
