Delhi-based designer Ranna Gill showcased her debut collection at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter 2013 on Day One.

Her line inspired by the beautiful romantic island of Mauritius was presented by Mauritius Tourism.

Gill's collection reflected her penchant for contemporary designs and panache.

Subtle and feminine, sometimes playful, each of the designs made for a perfect holiday-wear and mostly appealed to women who like details in their costumes.

The outfits were teamed with accessories that had intricate detailing.

As you can see from her collections, Gill has extensively used lace and tulle to create magic on fabrics like crepe, chiffon, georgette and silk.

The lacy prints and essential detailing were highlights of long maxis in a collection that presented outfits that were both easy and comfortable to wear. 

Throughout the collection, there were splashes of swimwear in resort colours, multi hues of the island’s landscape, different shades of water, palms, sunny beaches and the dazzling sun as the resort wear line moved seamlessly from dawn to dusk.

The colour palette ranged from peach and golden yellow to azure blue and balmy green closing with pristine white and cobalt blue, colours of the sun, earth and water bodies. 

Gill’s Mauritius collection reflected the beauty of the island revisiting its fauna, flora and landscapes that appeared on the swimwear, blouses and tunics.

Seen here is a model in a sun-kissed kaftan with beach prints.

The play of yellow and orange is interesting.

The sheer bodice design for flared pans teamed with long sleeveless printed blouses were playful and rode high on the comfort factor.

Kerchief hemlines for dresses created great comfort wear while the asymmetric halters, cute boleros, slinky shifts and sheaths made delightful fashion statements.

The bright colours and outfits appealed to women of all ages.

Candice Pinto walks in a sleeveless gown belted to the hip with symmetrical floral detailing.

The hemlines and sleeves were adorned with glittering silver and gold zari -- a characteristic of Mauritius costumes. 

Seen in the picture is Candice Pinto in a cobalt blue chiffon gown with gold detailing.

The gold embellishments were mostly inspired from the traditional crafts of Mauritius.

The pale bodice with zari patterns and flowy gowns sashayed between slim and sexy trying its best to make the wearer resemble a sea goddess.

Speaking of goddesses, actor and showstopper for the collection Yami Gautam looked absolutely gorgeous in a pristine white gown as she made an appearance to present the designer behind the divine collections.

Gautam’s gown with plunging neckline was accessorised with silver embroidery. 

Ranna Gill waved to the audience while Yami Gautam cheered for the designer at the end of the show.
