Exclusive French fashion house Chanel paid tribute to Indian fashion at the latest showing in Paris yesterday. Don't miss it!

You probably weren't expecting to buy a Chanel lehenga anytime soon, but that's about to change!

On December 6, head-designer and one of fashion's best-known faces Karl Lagerfeld presented a grand showing of the label's new 'Paris-Bombay' line during the annual Chanel Metiers D'Art Show.

The venue was the Grand Palais in Paris, where guests were seated at extravagant banquent tables, between which ran the runway. Sumptous dishes were served by waiters throughout the show as models sashayed down in garments that were reflective of Indian tradition, mixed in with Chanel's trademark tweeds and pearls.

The mood was set by chandeliers, elaborate candle arrangements and the finest gold-plated cutlery and of course, the lucky few who got to attend were more than impressed -- reviews have been favourable and Lagerfeld's trademark taste for extravagance has paid off well!

Here, we bring you a few glimpses from the collection, starting with this stunning white sari-inspired dress.

This outfit is decidedly more Western, but the floral motif on the crops and fur-trimmed jacket drives the theme home.

A sight we'd never see on the Indian ramp -- a jacket with nothing worn underneath! That netted necklace is a beauty, though.
