Upavista konasana (Wide angle pose)

Sit up straight. Spread out your legs as wide as is comfortably possible. Place the back of your hands on either thigh. Shut your eyes. Stay in the pose, breathing normally, for a minute or so. Benefits: It is a base pose to prepare you for other major practices in yoga. The spine, legs are powerfully but subtly worked out. It is calming.
