Vyagrasana (Lion-roaring pose)

November 4, 2008

Go on your fours, in the classic cat stretch or majari asana. To do this sit on your heels, lean forward with your palms flat on the ground. Spread your feet out lightly, to resemble a cat. Inhale. Exhale and bend your right leg at the knee, simultaneously bending your head towards it. Try to reach knee to nose. Inhale, release, lifting your right leg back and up (as shown in the pic alongside). This is one round. Do up to five rounds for the right leg. Rest in the majari asana. Repeat the entire exercise for the left leg. Benefits: Works out the leg from toes to hip joint. Tones and shapes the leg. Gives powerful traction to the spine too.
