Azhar's son Asaduddin named in Uttar Pradesh squad

Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin's son Asaduddin took his first major steps in his cricketing career when he was on Friday named in the Uttar Pradesh One Day squad for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare trophy.

- The Hero gone all wrong

The youngster had appeared for trials a week back following which he was selected.

The left-handed batsman was a part of the Hyderabad under-22 squad in 2010 but was unable to break into the senior squad.

Asaduddin also gave trials for various Indian Premier League franchises including Kolkata Knight Riders back in 2009 without much success.

The squad will led by leg-spinner Piyush Chawla and also includes former India pacer Praveen Kumar along with young spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Former captain Mohammed Kaif had quit UP in July after 16 years. He joined Andhra for the upcoming domestic season.

UP squad: Piyush Chawla (captain), Akshdeep Nath, Prashant Gupta, Praveen Kumar, R P Singh, Ali Murtaza, Mukul Dagar, Ekalavya Dwivedi (w/k), Amit Mishra Jr, Parvinder Singh, Ankit Rajpoot, Tanmay Srivastava, Kuldeep Yadav, Umang Sharma, Mohammed Asaduddin, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Dipendra Pandit, Israr Azim Khan.
