SRH win but RCB still top table

RCB 200-4 (20 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Sakib Hussain was trusted with the final over as Sunrisers Hyderabad looked to close out a tense finish against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Tim David got RCB moving with a couple of runs, while a sharp stop at mid-off denied further progress. He then cleared the ropes with a towering six and followed it up with a boundary to keep the chase alive briefly.

A few more singles followed through the leg side, before Krunal Pandya finished the innings with a couple of runs.

RCB finished on 200 for 4 after 20 overs, falling short in their massive chase.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 55 runs, but both teams secured playoff spots -- RCB finishing top of the table and SRH sealing third place after a high-scoring thriller.

RCB 185-4 (19 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Travis Head was handed the 19th over -- his first with the ball this season -- and he delivered a huge breakthrough for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Krunal Pandya missed an attempted sweep off the first ball, picking up just a leg bye. Then came the big moment.

Rajat Patidar tried to pull a long hop from Head but failed to middle it, sending a simple catch towards deep midwicket where Smaran Ravichandran completed the dismissal safely.

Patidar's fighting knock ends at 56 off 39 balls, bringing an important innings to a close for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Tim David walked in and got off the mark with a straight-driven single, while Krunal responded with a boundary and another single to keep the scoreboard moving.

Eight runs and a crucial wicket came from the over as RCB moved to 185 for 4 after 19 overs.

RCB 177-3 (18 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Harshal Patel returned for another over, with Krunal Pandya starting cautiously by powering one towards midwicket for a single.

Rajat Patidar then clipped one into the leg side for a run, bringing up a well-paced half-century off 37 balls as Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their strong chase.

Krunal briefly slowed things down with a couple of defensive shots before easing a single down to long-on. But Patidar ensured the over finished on a high, launching a massive six to keep the momentum alive.

A solid over for RCB -- 9 runs from it as they move to 177 for 3 after 18 overs, needing 79 from the final 12 balls.

RCB seal top-two finish

RCB 168-3 (17 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Eshan Malinga returned to the attack for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but Rajat Patidar continued to counterattack for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Patidar was initially beaten trying to cut, before digging out a sharp yorker for a couple. Then came a huge let-off -- skipper Pat Cummins put down a tough chance at extra cover, failing to hold on to a reverse-cup effort.

The pressure only grew from there. Another fielding lapse followed as a misjudged effort in the deep allowed the ball to race away for four, and Patidar capitalised immediately with back-to-back boundaries to move to 42 off 32 balls.

RCB collected 11 runs from the over and moved to 160 for 3 after 16 overs, still needing 96 from 24 balls.

Cummins then brought himself back into the attack, but RCB calmly chipped away at the target. Singles from Patidar and Krunal Pandya kept the strike rotating before Patidar hammered another boundary.

That shot proved significant -- RCB crossed 166, officially sealing a top-two finish in the standings.

Another tidy over followed with smart strike rotation as RCB reached 168 for 3 after 17 overs, needing 88 from 18 balls.

Krunal, Patidar keep chase moving

RCB 149-3 (15 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Harshal Patel returned to the attack, but Krunal Pandya kept the pressure on for Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a crisp boundary to start the over. He followed it up with a couple of runs and then nudged another single into the leg side.

At the other end, Rajat Patidar soaked up a dot ball before responding with a boundary of his own to keep RCB's chase alive.

A productive over for RCB -- 12 runs from it as they move to 139 for 3 after 14 overs.

The equation has now become even more interesting: RCB need 166 to secure a top-two finish, and 178 to go top of the table, with Gujarat Titans closely tracking this result.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was introduced into the attack, but Patidar welcomed him with another boundary. A slower bouncer sailed too high and was called wide before both batters settled into rotating strike with singles.

RCB continue to stay in the race -- 10 runs came off the over as they reach 149 for 3 after 15 overs, needing 107 from 30 balls.

Qualification scenarios:

If RCB finish between 166 and 177: GT finish 1st, RCB 2nd, SRH 3rd.

If RCB score 178 or more: RCB finish 1st, GT 2nd, SRH 3rd.

Krunal, Patidar keep chase moving

RCB 127-3 (13 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Pat Cummins returned to the attack for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but Krunal Pandya greeted him with a boundary to keep Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the hunt.

A wide down the leg side followed before Rajat Patidar steered one to deep third for a single. Another tight delivery sparked a review after a discussion between Cummins and Ishan Kishan, but it stayed with the umpire's original call of a fair delivery.

Cummins then overstepped for a no-ball, though RCB couldn't fully capitalise on the free hit, managing only singles as SRH avoided major damage.

Still, 12 runs came from the over as RCB reached 112 for 3 after 11 overs.

Shivam Dube came back into the attack and nearly struck immediately when Patidar missed a sweep. SRH reviewed the lbw call, but UltraEdge showed no inside edge and ball-tracking had wickets missing -- another unsuccessful review for Hyderabad.

Krunal survived a couple of nervy swings before finally finding the boundary with a clean strike, helping RCB collect 9 runs from the over and move to 121 for 3 after 12.

Sakib Hussain then delivered a tighter over, despite Krunal punching a boundary through the off side. The bowler mixed his pace cleverly and kept both batters largely quiet.

Just 6 came from it as RCB moved to 127 for 3 after 13 overs, needing 129 runs from 42 balls.

Malinga strikes again! Padikkal falls

image

RCB 100-3 (10 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Eshan Malinga struck again for Sunrisers Hyderabad, applying more pressure on the chase for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rajat Patidar started the over with a single to point, before missing one and then adjusting well to a slower bouncer, dabbing it fine for another run.

But the breakthrough came shortly after -- Devdutt Padikkal mistimed a flick and found Abhishek Sharma in the deep, who made no mistake with a calm, clean catch.

Padikkal departs for 21 off 14 balls, giving SRH another crucial wicket at a key moment. RCB now need 162 runs from 67 balls as Malinga continues to turn the game.

Krunal Pandya walked in as the new batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru after the breakthrough, with the chase starting to wobble slightly against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Eshan Malinga thought he had another one when he appealed for a caught-behind and went upstairs for a review. Ishan Kishan had taken a sharp one-handed grab behind the stumps, but UltraEdge showed a flat line -- SRH lose the review, and Krunal survives.

Only 3 runs and a wicket came from the over as RCB move to 94 for 3 after 9 overs, still needing 162 from 66 balls.

Harshal Patel continued his spell for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they looked to keep control of the chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rajat Patidar started the over with a pull shot to deep square leg for a single, while Krunal Pandya responded with a pull of his own to deep midwicket for another run.

Patidar then eased one down to long-on, as both batters rotated strike comfortably and kept the scoreboard moving in singles.

A tidy over from SRH -- just 6 runs off it as RCB reach 100 for 3 after 10 overs, needing 156 from 60 balls.

RCB 91-2 (8 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Harshal Patel, the ex-Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer, was brought into the attack as RCB looked to steady their chase.

Rajat Patidar greeted him in style, cracking a boundary straight away before rotating strike with a single towards midwicket. The batters then settled into a rhythm, collecting singles and keeping the scoreboard ticking.

A controlled over overall -- 10 runs from it as RCB move to 85 for 2 after 7 overs, needing 171 from 78 balls.

Sakib Hussain continued from the other end, and Patidar again started positively with another boundary. He then absorbed pressure with two solid defensive shots before both batters exchanged singles.

The over ended quietly with a dot ball -- just 6 runs from it as RCB reach 91 for 2 after 8 overs, needing 165 from 72 balls.

RCB 75-2 (6 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Sakib Hussain was introduced into the attack for Sunrisers Hyderabad, and immediately found success against the in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli initially rotated strike with a single each, keeping things steady at the crease.

But the breakthrough came soon after -- Kohli went for a crisp cover drive, but this time he couldn't clear the infield. Smaran Ravichandran held on to a sharp catch in the ring, and Kohli walks back after scoring 15 off 11 balls.

A big wicket at a crucial stage as SRH strike through Sakib Hussain.

Rajat Patidar, the new batter is off the mark with a single.

Malinga strikes as RCB lose Iyer

RCB 71-1 (5 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Eshan Malinga continued his spell for Sunrisers Hyderabad, and finally broke through in a key moment of the chase for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli started the over with a couple of runs through midwicket, followed by a single to square leg as RCB kept ticking.

But the breakthrough came soon after -- Venkatesh Iyer went for another big shot but mistimed it, and Abhishek Sharma ran in superbly to complete a sharp catch.

Iyer's explosive knock ends at 44 off just 19 balls, giving SRH a much-needed lift through Malinga's crucial wicket.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their aggressive start despite losing a wicket, with Devdutt Padikkal joining Virat Kohli at the crease.

Padikkal wasted no time getting going, opening his account with a boundary and following it up immediately with a cleanly struck six to keep the pressure on Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kohli rotated strike calmly to close out the over as RCB maintained a strong scoring rate despite the breakthrough.

A productive over for RCB -- 14 runs and a wicket -- as they reach 71 for 1 after 5 overs.

RCB 57-0 (4 Ovs) vs SRH 255-4 | SCORECARD

Pat Cummins came into the attack, but was immediately taken on by Virat Kohli, who launched him for back-to-back boundaries to start the over with intent for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

A wide down the leg side added to the extras before Kohli rotated strike with a single. Venkatesh Iyer then joined the assault, smashing a boundary of his own to keep the pressure on.

There was a brief moment of controversy when Cummins fired a wide yorker and Iyer appeared to leave it expecting a wide -- but the umpire ruled it legal after a long review. Iyer then picked up a single off a full toss as RCB kept the momentum going.

A strong over overall -- 15 runs from it as RCB move to 34 without loss after 3 overs, needing 222 from 102 balls.

Shivam Dube was then introduced into the attack, but Iyer immediately attacked him, smashing a six followed by a boundary as the chase accelerated further.

He added another towering six to bring up a rapid fifty for RCB, with even a wide and a dot ball doing little to slow the charge.

A huge over for RCB -- 23 runs off it as they surge to 57 without loss after 4 overs, needing 199 from 96 balls.

Harshal Patel comes in as the impact substitute, with Salil Arora making way for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their massive chase of 256.

Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli walk out to open the innings, with Iyer taking strike against the new ball from Pat Cummins.

Iyer gets moving straight away, skipping down the track and carving the length ball away for a couple to get RCB going. He follows it up with a quick single to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Kohli then gets off the mark calmly with a single, before Iyer shifts gears -- smashing a crisp boundary through the infield. He finishes the over in style, launching a powerful six to cap off an aggressive start.

A flying beginning for RCB -- 14 runs off the first over, and they look in a hurry in this steep chase.

Sunrisers Hyderabad know exactly what’s at stake — they need to keep Royal Challengers Bengaluru under 165 to leapfrog both RCB and Gujarat Titans in the standings.

Eshan Malinga shared the new ball from the other end, working in tandem with skipper Pat Cummins’s plans to apply early pressure.

Virat Kohli started with a controlled flick behind point for a single, while Venkatesh Iyer looked to attack but was denied by sharp fielding at point. The next phase was all discipline from SRH -- four dot balls in a row built real pressure on the batters.

But just when it looked tight, Iyer broke free at the end, finding the boundary to close out the over.

A tidy over from SRH -- just 5 runs off it as RCB move to 19 without loss after 2 overs, but the required intent is already visible.

SRH set 256-run target for RCB

SRH 255-4 (20 Ovs) vs RCB | SCORECARD

Rasikh Salam was handed the final over for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they looked to restrict a powerful finish from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Nitish Kumar Reddy started with a mistimed pull that fetched just a single, while Ishan Kishan also rotated strike with one to long-on as the bowlers managed to pull things back.

Reddy then broke free, carving a boundary as SRH brought up the 250 mark, despite a couple of wides adding extra runs. Jitesh Sharma did well behind the stumps to save further damage on one of the deliveries.

But the momentum shifted late in the over. Kishan first missed one and then attempted a big hit but mistimed it completely. Devdutt Padikkal made no mistake in the deep, taking a clean catch to end Kishan's brilliant knock of 79 off 46 balls.

A strong final over from RCB -- just 9 runs and a wicket as Sunrisers Hyderabad finish at 255 for 4 after 20 overs.

The over began with steady rotation of strike as both batters picked up singles. Kishan then broke free, cracking a boundary before a rare moment of hesitation in the field saw Hazlewood spill a return chance in his follow-through.

Kishan continued to find gaps, adding another single before the over ended in style with a powerful six over the ropes.

A productive over for SRH -- 13 runs off it as they move to 238 for 3 after 18 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar continued for RCB in the next over, and both batters started with quick singles. Kishan survived a fortunate edge that ran away for four before picking up another single.

Rasikh Salam returned to the attack for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but was immediately taken on by Ishan Kishan.

Kishan launched a powerful six, followed by a crisp boundary as the pressure stayed firmly on the bowling side. A wide down the leg side added to the extras, before Kishan struck another boundary to bring up 200 for SRH in emphatic fashion.

There was a brief stoppage as wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma went down with cramps and received treatment from the physio, momentarily halting SRH's momentum.

Once play resumed, the scoring slowed slightly. Kishan drove one straight to long-off for a single, while Heinrich Klaasen collected a couple to move to 49.

Klaasen then completed a superb half-century -- his sixth of the season -- reaching it in just 23 balls as SRH continued their dominant batting display.

A massive 20-run over as SRH surge to 209 for 2 after 16 overs.

Suyash Sharma has been replaced by Tim David in the field as Krunal Pandya returned to the attack for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Ishan Kishan kept things moving with a single, but the breakthrough came soon after. A mistimed shot from Heinrich Klaasen was safely taken at deep midwicket, with Venkatesh Iyer holding on to a crucial catch.

Nitish Kumar Reddy walked in and wasted no time in stamping his authority for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He announced himself with a towering six, followed by another huge hit as the pressure stayed firmly on the bowling attack. A wide down the leg side added extra runs to the over, before he was briefly checked by a dot ball.

Then came the explosion.

Josh Hazlewood was brought back into the attack but was met with immediate pressure. After a wide to start, Kishan clipped one through cover for a single before Klaasen shifted gears in brutal fashion.

He launched a towering six, followed by another massive hit despite a wide down the leg side adding to the chaos. Klaasen then produced a shot of pure timing and power for four, and followed it up with yet another six to completely dismantle the over.

Kishan then found his timing, first picking up two more runs and then latching onto the pace to hammer a boundary. He continued to rotate strike with a single down to long-on, while Klaasen calmly collected one off his feet to keep things ticking.

A productive over for SRH -- 13 runs off it as they reach 116 for 2 after 10 overs.

Krunal Pandya was introduced into the attack as Sunrisers Hyderabad looked to keep the scoring rate high with Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen at the crease.

Klaasen got things moving with a quick single, before Kishan was beaten by a sharp delivery that kept low and skidded through. But he responded in style on the very next ball, launching a massive six to relieve the pressure, before rotating strike with a single.

Klaasen then struggled to find timing, missing a swing as Krunal tightened things up, and the over ended with a dot ball.

He capped off the over in style with a boundary, leaving the fielding side under serious pressure.

Then came the moment of the over -- Abhishek Sharma launched one into the crowd for a huge six, and followed it up immediately with another big hit.

There was brief drama as a fielder attempted a catch near the boundary, but confusion followed over whether the rope was touched. After a quick check, it was ruled a six, with the fielder himself signalling the boundary.

Abhishek continued his aggressive intent with a single, before Suyash finished the over strongly with a dot ball.

Abhishek started with a watchful stroke towards backward point, while Kishan got off the mark with a quick single to settle in. Hazlewood kept things tight with a well-directed yorker that Abhishek could only defend, but a rare lapse in the field saw him pick up an extra three runs after a misfield from the skipper.

Kishan then tried to break free with a powerful strike, only for a sensational piece of fielding from Virat Kohli to cut it off inches from the rope -- saving a certain boundary and keeping it to just one run.

Just 7 came off the over as SRH moved to 52 for 1 after 5.

In the next over from Rasikh Salam, Kishan rotated strike early before Abhishek unleashed a clean boundary through the gap. A tough chance went down in the deep, giving Abhishek another life, and he made it count with a single. Kishan then responded with a crisp boundary of his own.

Rasikh Salam was introduced next and was immediately taken on by Head, who struck back-to-back boundaries to signal intent. However, the bowler fought back well, tightening his line and then landing a perfect yorker -- breaking through to dismiss Head for 26 off 16 balls.

He then flicked another straight to midwicket, unable to find the gap. A cut shot towards backward point fetched just a single, before Abhishek Sharma also rotated strike with one to the same region.

Hazlewood kept probing, not giving much away, and Head was forced into a couple of quiet deliveries before finishing the over in style -- cracking a boundary to close it out.

SRH win toss, opt to bat vs RCB in Hyderabad

image

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat first, with skipper Pat Cummins admitting their slim top-two hopes influenced the decision.

'It's a long shot, but we'll try a few things before the finals and look to put up a big score,' Cummins said, while also praising the Hyderabad crowd for their support throughout the season.

SRH go in unchanged from their previous game.

For Royal Challengers Bengaluru, captain Rajat Patidar said the team continues to feel at home wherever they play thanks to the strong fan support.

'No matter the venue, we have to maintain our standards every game,' he said.

Patidar also confirmed his return to the XI, while Jacob Bethell misses out due to a finger injury.

Pitch report

The pitch at  Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad looks absolutely tailor-made for big hitting -- flat, hard and with almost no grass left on it. Bowlers might already be dreading what's to come.

The square boundaries are 68m and 63m, with 75m straight down the ground, but the pitch is the real talking point. Expect true bounce, even pace and plenty of value for shots. The average score here over the last two seasons is 218, and tonight could easily produce another high-scoring thriller.

Four of the six matches here this season have been won by teams batting first, making the toss potentially crucial. One thing, though, feels guaranteed -- plenty of runs.

Playoff race heats up

image

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad will battle for a crucial top-two finish when they meet in their final IPL 2026 league game in Hyderabad on Friday.

RCB currently lead the table with 18 points and the best net run rate in the tournament. A win would seal top spot and hand them two chances to reach the final. SRH, meanwhile, are third with 16 points, level with Gujarat Titans but behind on net run rate, meaning they need a convincing win and favourable results elsewhere to break into the top two.

RCB have impressed throughout the season under skipper Rajat Patidar, with Virat Kohli once again leading the batting charts after scoring 542 runs in 13 matches.

Devdutt Padikkal has also been in fine touch, while bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood have delivered consistently.

SRH possess one of the league's most explosive batting line-ups featuring Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen, but inconsistency has hurt them in recent matches.

Captain Pat Cummins and emerging pacer Eshan Malinga have been key positives for Hyderabad heading into the playoffs.
