Australia make 4 changes; India unchanged

image
Australia captain Mitchell Marsh has won the toss and has opted to bowl first in the fourth T20I against India at the Carrara Oval, Gold Coast.

India have kept the same Playing XI that won the third game in Hobart.

"We are going to bowl first. We don't play a lot here. It is great to be here, will try to get as much information about the surface as we can. Five-match series going down to the last two games, both teams will be pumped. We have four changes - Zampa, Maxwell, Phillipe and Dwarshius come in for four other guys," said Marsh.

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said: "This is what you play bilaterals for, you challenge yourself and it is a beautiful stadium, everything to play for. We had a day off, had a good practice session yesterday, looks like a subcontinent wicket, later on it might get slower so we are happy to bat first. We were looking to bat first. Looks similar to Indian conditions, put runs on the board and we want to take up that challenge. We are going with the same team."

Let's have a look at the Playing XIs:

India: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jitesh Sharma (Wicketkeeper), Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah.

Australia: Mitchell Marsh (Captain), Matthew Short, Josh Inglis (Wicketkeeper), Tim David, Josh Philippe, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa.

Men in Blue eye series lead

image

Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the fourth T20I between India and Australia at the Carrara Oval, Gold Coast, in Queensland.

The sides are locked 1-1 in the five-match series. While the first match was washed out, Australia won the second by four wickets before India levelled the series with a five-wicket victory in Hobart, riding on an unbeaten 49 off 23 by all-rounder Washington Sundar.

Apart from Sundar, Tilak Varma (29), Abhishek Sharma (25), skipper Suryakumar Yadav (24) and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma (22 not out) chipped in with vital runs in Indias series-levelling win.

While the Men in Blue will be looking to continue the winning momentum, the hosts will be keen to bounce back and secure a valuable lead in the fourth game.

India hold a commanding head-to-head record against Australia in T20Is, winning 21 of the 35 games against the Baggy Greens. Australia have registered 12 wins, while two T20Is have ended without a result.

Heading into the fourth T20I, all eyes will be on Indias star batter Shubman Gill, who has been under the scanner with a string of low scores in the last two outings.

After stroking a fluent 37 off 20 balls in the series opener in Canberra, which was abandoned due to rain, he could manage 5 and 15 in the next two innings, falling to pace bowlers both times.

Since making a comeback to the T20 team for the Asia Cup, Gill has tallied just 184 runs in 10 innings -- averaging 23 at a strike rate of 146.03. He has failed to hit a single fifty, with a best of 47, while going past 30 just twice in 10 innings.

At the other end, Abhishek Sharma has done his reputation no harm as the World's No. 1 T20 batter with a fine half-century and two quick starts in the series.

The Australians will be without two of their key limited-overs players opening batter Travis Head and pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood.

Head is set to play in the Sheffield Shield to prepare for the Ashes while Hazlewood has been rested to ensure he is fully fit for the gruelling five-match contest against England.

With no Head in the line-up, Marsh might have Matthew Short as his opening partner.

Squads:

India: Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Shivam Dube, Harshit Rana, Nitish Reddy, Axar Patel, Sanju Samson (Wicket-keeper), Jitesh Sharma (Wicket-keeper), Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy.

Australia: Mitchell Marsh (Captain), Xavier Bartlett, Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Josh Inglis (Wicket-keeper), Josh Philippe (Wicket-keeper), Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, Mahli Beardman, Tanveer Sangha.
