Yash Dayal returns from the other end. Jaiswal starts with a solid defense, but follows it up in style-launching a massive six deep into the stands, then cracking a boundary through the off side. He plays the next one straight back but finds no run, then pushes into the deep for a single. Samson struggles to connect cleanly and picks up a leg bye to end the over. A productive one for Rajasthan Royals-12 runs from it. After 5 overs, they are 36 for no loss.
Hazlewood continues with the final over of the powerplay. Samson lofts one over the bowler's head-not well-timed, but it lands safely as Tim David can't quite reach it running back from mid-on. A quick and risky single follows; Samson is certainly living dangerously today. Jaiswal nudges one to third man for a single before Samson taps one back to the bowler. Then comes a short ball, and this time Samson pounces-pulling it for a much-needed boundary. He adds a single to close the over.
At the end of the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals are 45 for no loss. While the pitch was touted as a batting-friendly surface, RCB's bowlers have kept things tight, not allowing RR to run away with it early.
No wickets lost, but credit to RCB for keeping the scoring in check.
