I'm not a control freak: Chappell

February 14, 2006 17:15 IST

"They can whistle as much as they like, they can sing, they can dance and they can do whatever they like in the team bus," India's cricket coach Greg Chappell [Images] says about his team members, rubbishing charges that he is a 'control freak'.

Is it true that he does not permit the Indian cricketers to whistle in the team bus, or take bowling or batting tips from former players, and he generally controls everything?

"No, no. Not at all," says the Australian, laughing at such whispers.

"The only thing I ask is that they are committed once they arrive at the cricket ground," he says.

"I am not the right person to ask if I am a control freak. My answer is no I am not. But you have to ask the players and get their opinion because they are the ones that work with me. You can ask the support staff. I am a person who believes in giving people jobs they have to do," Chappell said.
