- India vice-captain Rahul Dravid [Images] played in his 250th one-day international. He became the 18th player to do so.

- Sachin Tendulkar [Images] (123) scored the 38th century of his ODI career. This century came after a gap of more than one year. His last century was also against Pakistan -- 141 at Rawalpindi on 16-03-2004. Incidentally, India posted 300-plus total on that occasion too but lost the match!

- The century was Tendulkar's fourth against Pakistan. With this, he equalled West Indian Desmond Haynes' tally of centuries against Pakistan. Now only Brian Lara [Images] with five centuries, has scored more centuries against Pakistan than Tendulkar.

- The century was Tendulkar's 15th at home soil -- maximum for any batsman in ODIs. West Indian Desmond Haynes is distant second with 10 centuries.

- This was Tendulkar's first century against Pakistan on Indian soil. His previous highest was a paltry 31 in the 1995-96 World Cup quarter-final game at Bangalore.

- Tendulkar also became the first Indian batsman to score a century against Pakistan -- both at home and away. He had scored 118 at Sharjah in 1995-96, 100 at Singapore also in 1995-96 and 141 at Rawalpindi last year.

- Sourav Ganguly [Images] last scored a 100 against Kenya in 2002-03 World Cup semi-final (111 not out off 114 balls at Durban). Since then he has played 42 matches and 41 innings for India without reaching the three-figure mark. Ganguly has aggregated 1249 runs at an average of 32.02 with 9 fifties during this period.

- First five batsmen in Pakistan innings made score of 40 or more. This provided only the second such instance in ODI history. The only other instance was recorded at Dhaka on 14-04-2003 when first five South African batsmen made 40s against Bangladesh.

- Shoaib Malik [Images] (65 and 3 for 67) performed the all-round feat of scoring a fifty and taking three wickets in the same match for the fifth time in his career. With this he equalled West Indian Chris Gayle's world record of having done so on most occasions in ODIs.

- This was the second such occasion for Malik against India. He had made 68 besides returning the figures of 3 for 18 at Amsterdam on 21-08-2004.

- Inzamam-ul-Haq [Images] provided the 11th instance of a batsman hitting a boundary off the last ball of the match to register a win for his side. Interestingly, the last such instance was also recorded against India, when Ramnaresh Sarwan [Images] settled the issue by hitting Ajit Agarkar [Images] for a four at Jamshedpur on 06-11-2002, with West Indies [Images] needing 3 runs off the last ball.

- Pakistan's win provided the fifth instance of a side achieving a target against India off the last possible ball of the match. Pakistan appear thrice in this list.

- It was for the first time that India failed to defend a 300-plus total. The previous highest score made by India which was successfully chased by the opposing side was 292 for 6 also against Pakistan in the BCCI Platinum Jubilee match at Kolkata on 13-11-2004.

- On the other hand it was the highest successful run-chase for Pakistan. The previous highest total that Pakistan managed to chase successfully was 295 for seven by Sri Lanka [Images] at Kimberley on 07-04-1998.

- For the tenth time in his career (and second time against Pakistan) Tendulkar did not receive man of the match award despite scoring a century. The only other such instance against Pakistan was at Singapore on 05-04-1996 when Aamir Sohail's unbeaten 76 was given preference over Tendulkar's 100 for the award.
