Japanese firm to outsourse from India

Unveiling what it said is the world's most compact projector, Plus Vision Corporation the $1.7 billion Japanese company said on Monday that it planned to outsource software from Indian IT firms, which would be integrated in its advanced products.

"We are planning to outsource software for our portable projectors and electronic copy boards. India can contribute to these products, which have a lot of software component," Plus Vision Corp deputy director, Masahiro Nonaka told reporters in Bangalore.

He said the Pico Portable Projector, the first in the micro portable range has been launched in India, whose market was estimated to grow ten times in the next two years.

Plus Vision, Nonaka said, was considering to increase its holding in Plus Business Machines, its Indian partner from the existing 10 per cent, but declined to give any further details.

Plus Business Machines chairman and managing director, Swadesh Khetawat said the Indian market was exploding and was expected to double to 15,000 units by the next year as against 8,000 units recorded during 2002.

He said the demand was driven by educational and training institutes, IT firms, pharma companies and other corporates even as prices were falling since the last four years.

Plus Business, Khetawat said, aimed to double its revenue to touch Rs 24 crore (Rs 240 million) this fiscal, as against Rs 13 crore (Rs 130 million) during 2002-03. The firm opened its fully-integrated audio-video module in the city, the first such in Asia.
