US firm Intersil opens centre in Bangalore

American analog chip maker Intersil Corporation on Wednesday set up its analog product centre in Bangalore with a multi-million dollar investment to design its leading edge high performance products.

"The new Intersil Analog Services design facility will represent a multi-million dollar investment over the next several years," Intersil Analog Systems vice president Michael Althar told reporters in Bangalore.

The $507.7 million firm will start with an initial team of eight professionals in the Bangalore centre and ramp it upto about 15 in a year.

Intersil Analog India managing director C S Balasubramanian said his team would work on new integrated circuits to manage power, signals, data and conversions jointly with other design centres in the United States.
