Eicher aims to sell 50,000 vehicles

Eicher Motors, the manufacturer of trucks, buses and motorcycles, is eyeing sales of 50,000 units by 2010.

The company that banks high on commercial vehicles is increasing production and also expanding its dealer network all over. The company that holds around 35 per cent has been witnessing higher revenues since many quite a few months now.

"Eicher sold around 23000 units last year and we attain to sell 50,000 commercial vehicles by 2010. With the improving infrastructure and increasing demand we have been increasing out production and will be doing the same in coming years," informed B Srinivas of Eicher Motors.

Eicher targets to attain sales of around 28000 units this fiscal. South and West have so far been the best markets for the company.

"The company at present has vendor base of around 25 and with the Pithampur factory being nearby, we will also be increasing it further. The company will be consolidating and expanding its vendor base as well," he added.

The company has already invested around Rs 30-40 crore (Rs 300-400 million) for capacity expansion and company will also be rolling out trailer trucks and tippers early next year.

Eicher has been strengthening its presence in the commercial vehicle market by rapidly introducing new products, their variants and built-up vehicles to provide optimally suited transportation solutions designed to meet the needs of different customer segments.

Eicher Motors for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 has declared a net income of Rs 352.95 crore (Rs 3.53 billion) for the quarter ended. After accounting for operating expenditure of Rs 351.06 crore (Rs 3.51 billion) and other income of Rs 6.07 crore (Rs 61 million), the company has declared an operating profit before depreciation and interest of Rs 7.96 crore (Rs 79.6 million).
