Keeping and breaking the fast with a cannon blast

As the deafening sound of a canon echoes across nearly forty villages in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, thousands of faithful Muslims break their day-long fast and participate in Iftaar.The canon, perched atop xxxxx, has been faithfully marking the time to start and end the fast during the holy month of Ramadan for hundreds of years. When locals hear the first boom in the wee hours of morning, they know it is time for Sehri.
