With New Zealand's World Cup campaign now over, Scott Styris will be the king for only one day in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) rankings.

Matthew Hayden needs to score only about 30 to overtake him; and there are also the likes of Jacques Kallis, Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting and Glenn McGrath waiting in the wings.

Styris and his Kiwis teammates can return contented. Jacob Oram (15), Shane Bond (19) and Daniel Vettori (20) also had a reasonably good World Cup.

After his remarkable innings of 115 in 109 balls yesterday, Mahela Jayawardene (17 to 7) has jumped ten steps in the MVP ladder.

Muttiah Muralitharan (9 to 6) has also climbed three notches after his splendid bowling spell of 8-0-31-4.

In fact, Muralitharan could easily have been in fourth position if he had played that game against Australia and picked up just one wicket.
