Each Pak player to get $85,000 for Cup win

December 05, 2002 18:57 IST

Pakistani players can expect cash rewards worth 75 million rupees ($1.3 million) if they win next year's World Cup in South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday.

"It is basically an incentive programme designed to provide motivation to players," PCB spokesman Samiul Hasan told Reuters.

"The PCB chairman believes that the players deserve such cash rewards if they can win a title which is so dear to the cricket-loving people of Pakistan."

He added that every player in the 15-man squad would receive five million rupees ($85,000) if the team won the title for the first time since 1992.
