Kerala Minister Saji Cheriyan on Wednesday announced his resignation amidst mounting criticism from various quarters, including the Opposition, over his controversial remarks against the Constitution recently.
The state asked the PMO to accommodate three more dignitaries, including DMRC Principal Advisor E Sreedharan.
After a marathon discussion lasting nine hours, the motion was defeated with 87 members opposing it and 40 supporting in the 140-member house with two vacancies.
The court acquitted Saseendran holding that no case had been made out against him that warranted conviction.
