Indian Army planners find themselves contemplating the possibility of more Chinese intrusions along the contested 3,488-km border. That could lead to the army having to man a 'hardened LAC' round the year, like the LoC with Pakistan, reports Ajai Shukla.
India and China are in touch to resolve the situation arising out of the 'deep incursion' by Chinese troops, who entered the Indian territory in Daulat Beg Oldi sector in eastern Ladakh and erected a tented post. According to government sources, the issue was raised by India after the incident came to light some time ago.
Asserting that the militants on the other side of the international border are enjoying the support of Pakistani forces during infiltration bids, the Border Security Force on Friday lodged a strong protest with its Pakistani counterpart over the ceasefire violation and infiltration bids in Jammu."The BSF has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan Rangers at Border Outpost on the international border in Jammu frontier over an attempt to push in ultras," officials said.
In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops on Wednesday fired from across the border to push in armed militants in Jammu and Kashmir, the Border Security Force said."Pakistani Rangers opened fire on Tent Post along the International Border in Kancchak sub-sector of Jammu frontier in the wee hours today," a BSF spokesman said.BSF troops beat back the infiltration bid and the militants later escaped into the Pakistani side.
India has denied seeking any assistance from the United States on the Chinese border incursions in Ladakh, asserting that New Delhi is capable enough to take care of its own territorial integrity.
