Jammu and Kashmir chief minister designate Omar Abdullah left for New Delhi, on Thursday to join senior leaders of the National Conference, to work out the modalities of the coalition government with their Congress counterparts.
According to the returning officer, former chief minister and NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah polled 27 votes while as Mohammad Shafi Uri got 25 votes in the third and final round of elections, held through Single Transferable Vote System.
The PDP led by former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has decided to stay away from the delimitation process, saying the body lacks 'constitutional and legal mandate' and is part of the overall process of political disempowerment of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
