Maoists on Wednesday abducted 19 railway employees, including a stationmaster in Bihar's Jamui district, but later released 16 of them in a forest, a railway official said.
Four suspected Maoists carrying 300 kg ammonium nitrate, a chemical used in manufacturing explosives, were on Friday arrested from Chakai in Bihar's Jamui district bordering Jharkhand, said the police. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a vehicle coming from Jasidih in Jharkhand and seized six sacks, each containing 50 kg of the chemical.The chemical was probably being taken to Charka Pathar in Jharkhand for the local Maoists, sources said.
He recalled that the state was home to Vaishali, said to be the oldest republic in the world.
