Joshi appeared at the CBI office at 1225 IST and was questioned till 1855 IST.
Their lawyer told the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court that Mumbai High Court had granted stay in proceedings against the duo under MCOCA.
The cases were registered against Zamurrduin Ansari, Rajesh Panchariya, Mohammad Farooq Mansurian and gangster Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees , the CBI said.
The gutka barons are accused of setting up a factory for Dawood in Karachi.
The Central Bureau of Investigation would begin recording Joshi's statement from February 28.
The gutka company owners have warrants issued under them for questioning in a case alleging underworld links.
The gangster had given his phone numbers also, Joshi said.
A special court on Tuesday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation time till July 15 to file a report on its probe into the alleged links of gutka barons Jagdish Joshi and Rasiklal Dhariwal with the underworld.
Rasiklal Dhariwal, owner of Manikchand Gutka, had urged for cancellation of the warrant issued by a lower court.
