The Delhi police on Monday objected to a plea, seeking a city court to direct it to lodge a criminal case against Rajya Sabha member of Parliament Amar Singh for allegedly kidnapping a key prosecution witness of the 2008 cash-for-vote scam ahead of his deposition before a lawmakers' panel.
The Jammu and Kashmir high court has restrained the authorities from deporting an aged Pakistani national, who came to his native Pekhri village in Samba district recently on a cross Line of Control permit issued by the Pakistan government, till further orders.The order was passed by Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir in a petition filed by 83-year-old Hashmat Ali, who had migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and did not want to return.
Al Qaeda terror suspect Rashid Rauf is still alive, his lawyer claimed on Monday, terming the reports that he had died in a United States missile strike in North-West Pakistan as a 'fake story'. "We don't believe that the story published today that Rashid Rauf is killed is true... It is a fake story. We still believe that my client, Rashid, is alive," his lawyer Hashmat Ali Habib told BBC. A news report claimed that Britain's intelligence services were kept in the dark.
