US President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cozied up to each other at a summit of the G8-G5 groupings at L'Aquila in Italy on Thursday.
Developed and developing nations have agreed that global temperatures should not rise more than two degrees Celsius above 1900 levels, a G8 summit declaration in L'Aquila, Italy, said.
Hosts of the summit and Italian President Silvio Berlusconi, in his opening remarks at the summit of the two groupings yesterday, suggested some sort of a G-14 saying the G-8 and G-5 represented about 80 per cent of the world and 'we may consider this as a stable format of the future'.
This was one of the major outcomes of a 45-minute meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the sidelines of G-8/G-5 Summit in Rome on Wednesday
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh believes that most of the major economic indicators are still negative, when one looks at the world economy as a whole.
